Rakesh Upadhyay

Technical Analyst and Portfolio Consultant

Rakesh Upadhyay is an Engineer by trade, having served in the Indian Navy for seven years. Upon completion of his service, he delved into the stock markets, fascinated by the art and science of chart reading and interpretation of which made him decide to become a Professional Technical Analyst. He started by literally devouring hundreds of books on all of the Methods of Technical Analysis and Financial Markets Forecasting and began using a myriad of indicators on his chart building techniques. His philosophy rests on the belief that price action is determinant in order to arrive at a thorough process of understanding chart patterns. Hence, he opts to keep his analysis focused on the study at hand using those indicators warranted by the models in front of him without falling into uncommitted generalizations. He emphasizes more of a fundamental analysis approach for long-term portfolios and a strictly technical one for short term and intraday trading as for some medium-term portfolios or strategies. Among many publications and opinions regularly granted, Rakesh is very frequently sought after by financial news media and outlets and is a regular contributor to oilprice.com, Seeking Alpha and exchangerates.org.uk to mention just a few. In his free time, he likes to spend time with his family, enjoys lifting weights in order to keep healthy and defines himself as a very spiritual person.
